On that same day, the first day of the week, when the doors were locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, suddenly Jesus stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you!” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of anyone, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of anyone, they are retained.”

One of the twelve disciples, Thomas, also called Didymus, was not with the others when Jesus came. The other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But Thomas said, “I will not believe. Unless I see the print of the nails in his hands and put my finger into them and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

After a week the disciples were together again, and Thomas was with them. The doors were locked, but suddenly Jesus stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Reach out your finger, and see my hands. Reach out your hand, and put it into my side. Do not be unbelieving, but believe!” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name. (John 20:19–31 First Edition)

Testimonies of Jesus’ Appearance
